1.The Lukla Flight Cost
The Lukla flight takes off from Kathmandu airport every day. The flight is operated by different airlines like Tara, Buddha, and Summit. Basically, the flights take off in the morning when the weather is fair. The flight is not 100 percent sure because of the unpredictable weather condition.In fact, the flights are often cancelled or postponed.
The flight from Kathmandu to Lukla is for 25 minutes. This is a scenic flight with spectacular landscapes and mountain views.The Lukla Airport is also popular as Tenjing- Hillary Airport.
One- way Kahtmandu-Lukla flight costs 180 USD.
We can directly book the flight on online or book via local travel agents in Kahtmandu, Nepal.
2. TIMS Card
A Trekkers Information Management System or TIMS Card is mandatory for all treks including Everest Base Camp Trek. TIMS can be obtained from the Nepal Tourism Board in Kathmandu. We can have our TIMS card within 20-30 minutes. For this, you require to fill up the form at Nepal Tourism Board. It is not an online form. Do not forget to bring 2 passport sized Photographs. TIMS Card costs USD 20 per individual.
Recent update: These days, we do not need TIMS Card from Nepal Tourism Board. We can buy a location card at Lukla which costs USD 20. Actually, Everest region is independently promoting Tourism in Everest region these days.
3. Sagarmatha National Park Entry Permit
Without obtaining Sagarmatha National Park Entry Permit, trekkers are not allowed to enter into Sagarmatha National Park. Sagarmatha National Park Entry Permit can be obtained in the Nepal Tourism Board in Kathmandu, or alternatively, it also can be obtained at its office at Monjo. We get our national park entry permit at Monjo and trek to Namche. Sagarmatha National Park Entry Permit costs equivalent to USD 34. You do not need to provide photograph for this permit.
4. Additional Permit for Jiri to EBC Trek
Some people love to start their Everest Base Camp Trek from Jiri or Shivalaya. Jiri to Everest Trek is the most classical trek in Everest region. Those who are planning to start their Everest Base Camp Trek from Jiri or Shivalaya, they have to obtain Gaurishankar Conservation Area Project permit. We suggest you to obtain this permit from Nepal Tourism Board in Kathmandu. It costs USD 20 in Kathmandu. We also can obtain this permit in Shivalaya which will cost double : USD 40. Remember to bring two passport sized photographs for this permit.
Where Do I get my Permits?
These all above required permits can be obtained from Nepal Tourism Board. Nepal Tourism Board is around 2 km away from central Thamel. If you walk, it is around 30 minutes walk.
Bring Nepali currency from the payment and do not forget to bring passport sized photographs TIMS and Conservation Area Permit. Also bring a copy of your passport. You can also have your passport photocopied at the TIMS counter.
5. Food and Accommodation
We are going to have our food and accommodation at local guesthouses and the lodges. These lodges and guesthouses are family owned mostly. However, in some towns like Lukla, Phakding, Namche and Dingboche, we can get luxury accommodation. For which you need to ask the local travel agent to book for you prior to your Everest Base Camp Trek.

We are going to have local organic dishes at the local lodges and guesthouse during our Everest Base Camp Trek. We will have the food items like bread items, noodles, the popular Daal Bhat (national food of Nepal), Pizza, dumpling etc. We are given a food menu and you will make the choice among them.

6 Personal Expenses/ Extra Expenses
